Mood e un termine inglese intraducibile solo in parte nella nostra lingua: o meglio, per comprenderlo, bisogna ricorrere a piu di un'espressione. Mood significa atmosfera, stato d'animo, ambiente, e molte altre core.
E' un termine mood che not latini non abbiamo e per spiegare it quale spesso ricorriamo ad un'altra parola straniera: all Stimmung tedesco sta a indicare la stessa cosa. Esso infatti e stato adottato da tutte le lingue europee per sottolineare l'ansia e l'urgenza dei sentimenti in determinati istanti delta nostra vita. Ma, se sta¬volta la lingua non ci e amica, ci soccorre la musica.
I dodici motivi the vi presentia¬mo, infatti, creano un mood italiano: appunto l'Italian mold cui si intitola questo microsolco che comprende dodici brani tra i piu significativi della produzione nazio¬nale. «Come nasce un amore », un successo di Nico Fidenco, e un motivo che, coin¬Plice l'accattivante voce del cantante — stavolta come autore — ci immette senza mezzi termini in quel mood che non ci lascera fino alla fine del disco. Infatti, «DaIla mia finestra. », scritta da Enrico Polito e cantata Calla graziosa Alida rende piu concreta l'atmosfera che un nuovo Edoardo Vianello si appresta a riscaldarci con i bei versi e la suadente musica di « Umilmente ti chiedo perdono ». Qui abbiamo infatti, un Vianello inedito sinora: che nulla ha da vedere con il divertente chanson¬nier de « Il capello », de « i due esquimesi » o di « Cicciona cha-cha-cha ».

La giovanissima Anna Maria, con « Il segreto », ci svela che il mood non conosce eta. E' un adolescente infatti, a stimolarlo, stavolta, con le ariose note che portano la firma di Prieto il popolare musicista messicano, autore di «La novia a. (< Mi chieclo » di Franco Leo, (i1 Terzieff della musica leggera), fa da ponte tra Anna Maria e una delle piu popolari cantautrici nostrane: Daisy Lumini, che ripropone in questo micro¬solco it suo famosissimo a Gabbiano ».
« L'ultima lettera » e, in ordine di tempo, uno dei piu recenti successi di Gianni Meccia, presentata al torneo di Canzonissima e lanciata dallo stesso autore nei mesi a cavallo tra il '61 ed il '62. Anche dell'ultima Canzonissima e « Stringiti alla mia ma-no » di Nico Fidenco che la indiscussa classe di Miranda Martino ha mantenuto ai primi posti della classifica durante quasi tutta la serrate gara canora.

Attualissimo e it motivo con il quale Renato Rascel, si iscrive a questa romantica rassegna. Il titolo del brano tratto dalla commedia musicale « Enrico '61 », e « E non audio ». La B.B. della canzone, Barbara Baldassarre, presenta con voce accattivante la sua « Smettila », aggiungendosi cosi alla felice schiera delle cantautrici. Un pin sereno Sergio Erfdrigo si ripropone al pubblico dei suoi fans con « Aria di neve », naturalmente di sua creazione. E Tony Del Monaco conclude questa panorama musicale con un pezzo cui e indissolubilmente legato il suo successo: « Stelle di carta ».
I dodici motivi rappresentano dunque, una cavalcata romantica in una atmos'fera tipicamente it'liana, un legame sottilissimo li unisce, e tutti insieme contribuiscono, infine, a darci una versione musicale della parola mood che d'ora in poi, sara sulle labbra di quegli innamorati che, prendendosi per mano, vogliono incamminarsi nellostregato modo della felicita sentinientale. « Come nasce un amore », a hit by Nico Fidenco, is the song which sets us in the proper « mood » for hearing this record. The song is of course sung by the author himself, in the already well-known captivating manner which has rendered him famous.« Dalla mia finestra », written by Enrico Polito and sung by pretty Alida Chelli, helps to increase this « Italian mood » of ours. We are thus ready for Edoardo Vianello's « Umilmente ti chiedo perdono », sung with the warmth of a new style of singing for him, in which wards and music are worth remembering. The Vianello we shall hear on this record is absolutely original: no similarity exists between this Vianello and the one we heard in « Il Capello », « I due esquimesi a and « Cicciona cha-cha-cha ».Young Anna Maria, with her song « T1 segreto a, shows how the « Italian mood » does not know age. She (Anna Maria) is still in her first 'teens, blIt she can certainly ,rise to the occasion when she sings the songs of Antonio Pireta the popular N.7.':x'aan song-writer and singer, author also of « La Novia » (Th. Bride). This follows « Mi chiedo » by Franco Leo, the a lion » of Italian light music, which bridges Anna Maria's song with the one sung one of the most popular Italian stars of the moment: Daisy Lumini, and « Gabbiano the famous song which is reproduced on this record. « L'ultima lettera » is — chronologically speaking — one of Gianni Meccia's most recent hits. it was presented for the first time on the popular TV show « Canzonissima » and then launched by the author during the months stretching between 1961 and 1962. Also from the same TV show is « Stringiti alla mia mano », by Nico Fidenco, which Miranda Martino's obvious class kept in the first places of the tough competition.

The comes Renato Rascel — of « Arrivederci Roma » and « Romantica » fame — who has sung for us a song belonging to his musical comedy a Enrico '61 «E non addio ». The B.B. of song-making, Barbara Baldassarre then sings .« Smettila », written by herself. She is one of the many author-singers on the market.
