| TONY FERRARA IL NUOVO CANTORE DEL FOLK CALABRESE Primogenito di 6 fratelli, Antonino Ferrara detto Tony, nacque a Gallina di Reggio Calabria it 23 Maggio 1939. Fin da ragazzo la passione per it canto divenne per Tony pie che un hobby una necessity istintiva e tenace. II sole a picco sul mare trasparente, i cieli tersi e lo splendido ambiente naturale delta Calabria ancora ricco di primitive bellezze, ispire le prime canzoni di Tony. All'ete di 15 anni segui Ia famiglia in Francia dove it padre si trasferi per lavoro. Anche qui, Tony Ferrara canto it folklore della sua terra mentre i ricordi pie nostalgici to spingevano a scrivere e descrivere quadretti tristi e allegri della lontana Calabria. In Francia forme con it fratello Mario e alcuni musicisti locali un complesso che, per it suo particolare genere, incontre favorevoli consensi. Con questa gruppo effettue inoltre un giro di lavoro anche in Spagna, Lussemburgo e Germania. II celebre direttore d'orchestra francese Raymond Lefevre che ebbe occasione di ascoltare Tony Ferrara durante un "recital" alla fine gli disse: Ragazzo, hai cuore, talento e sei spontaneo. Con queste doti il successo non potre mancare! Tony Ferrara rientre in Italia per coronare il suo sogno d'amore e si stabili con la famigliola a Corsico, Milano. Con il volto bruciato dal sole calabrese, Tony Ferrara ci ha offerto con semplicita le sue canzoni. Una raccolta densa e particolarmente interessante. Abbiamo trovato cose meravigliose rendendoci difficile la scelta dei brani per questo album. Offriamo le canzoni di Tony Ferrara a tutti coloro che amano questo genere ma sopratutto le interpretazioni umane e piene di sincerita. II folk calabrese ha una sua intensa e profonda poesia che si stempera mirabilmente con i colori violenti di un ambiente suggestivo e antico del Sud dove molte case sono tuttora avvolte dale, patina del tempo. TONY FERRARA THE NEW SINGER OF THE CALABRESE FOLK-MUSIC First-born of 6 brothers, ANTONINO FERRARA (Tony) was born in Gallina (Reggio Calabria) on May 23rd, 1939. Since when he was a boy, the passion for the song became for Tony not a hobby but an instinctive and stubborn necessity. The sunshine, the transparent sea, the terse skies and the splendid calabrese landscape inspired the first songs written by Tony. When fifteen he followed his family in France where his father emigrated in search of a job. Here too Tony Ferrara sung the folk-music of his fatherland whilst his nostalgic memories drove him to write about the too far away Calabria. Together with his brother Mario and some other local musicians he formed a group that, owing to its particular music line, meet the audience's consent also in Spain, Luxembourg and Germany. Raymond LefOvre, the well known french band-leader, who had once the opportunity to listen to Tony Ferrara, told him: " Boy, you have heart and talent and you are spontaneous. You'll surely meet the success ". Later on Tony returned to Italy for getting married and came to live at Corsico, near Milano. The young face burnt by the calabrese sun, Tony offered us his songs. A very interesting collection where we found many and many wonderful tunes that made very hard the selection of the titles to be included in this album. At our turn, we offer now Tony Ferrara's songs to all people who love this kind of music and all humane and sincere interpretations. The calabrese folk-music has a particularly intense and inner poetry that admirably melts itself into the strong colours of an ancent and suggestive southern country where many things are still covered by the coat of time. This is why it is a still undiscovered folk. Now we have the possibility of discovering it through the voice, the guitar and the songs of its new singer: TONY FERRARA. |
